Serial Port PTT software

I have bodged together a simple control software for setting RTS/DTR on a serial port of your choice. It is freeware and source code is available
on request. It was made using Visual Basic 2005 Express and requires .NET 2.0.

It can probably be used for any RS232 PTT interfaces for any radio but I created it for a specific purpose:

The Kenwoood TS-2000 has by design 2 PTT lines. Both are available in the ACC port and they enable you to choose
if you want the radio to transmit from the audio input in the back ACC input or from the front mic socket.
This TS-2000 feature is a WONDERFUL idea as you can connect a computer interface on the back and use it without the need
to reduce gain or remove the front microphone when working digital modes.

The implementation of the Dual PTT function has a big flaw though. Only the "Front" PTT is accessible via CAT commands, so
you NEED an additional dedicated PTT serial port if you simultaneously want to use CAT control with digital modes.
Most Digital Mode software can handle this (MixW etc.)

But... to Remote Control the rig for SSB or FM I prefer to use the nice big controls on HRD or Kenwood ARCP-2000.
Unfortunately these only allow PTT via the CAT command that selects the front mic!
These can be run over VNC or Remote Desktop and Skype can be used for the voice through any digimode interface.
My SerialPTT application can be used in combination with these to press the correct PTT for the ACC audio input.

The SerialPTT application does NOT steal and lock the COM port when not pressed so you can leave it running whenever you like.
Bugs are included at no extra cost.
