I have created a tiny application in Visual Basic 2008 Express. I have temporarily named it SerialPTT as a descriptive title. It is simply a dialog box displaying always on top that when klicked on triggers DTR and RTS on the selected serial port. Very useful for example when triggering the Kenwood TS-2000 PTT via remote desktop while talking through IP telephony like Skype from a remote location into the ACC2-connector. It works best when the PTT is dedicated to a separate COM port like in the Rigexpert USB interface or if you simply have buildt your own PTT cable separate from the CAT cable. One nifty feature is that the selected COM port is NOT OCCUPIED if the PTT is not pressed down. This means you can have other software using the PTT while SerialPTT is running. The opposite may not be true though. Many ham applications open the PTT COM port and keep it occupied even when the ptt is not triggered. This makes multitasking a bit of a challenge. Bugs are included. Live with it. Download serialptt.exe |

I have added a QSO map page where all my QSO's are displayed. If you hover the mouse over the marker you will see the callsign of the remote operator. |

I have now changed my QSO log to display the distance of the contact instead of the Maidenhead locator. The locator is still visible in the details page if you click the callsign. Also, the color of the QSL index number reflects the status and method of QSL exchange. |
